  • Evidence of strong U.S. economic momentum continued last month, with real GDP growth for the second quarter coming in at 4.2%, the fastest pace in nearly four years. Consumer spending was up 4%, as individuals continued to benefit from a strong labor market and lower tax withholdings.

  • Japan & the Eurozone have rebounded from the depths seen in the first half of the year. China has also joined the party, though to a lesser extent.

  • Colorado State University’s (CSU) Department of Atmospheric Science, has a recently revised forecast for 2018 Atlantic hurricane activity that has been adjusted sharply lower.

  • We continue to expect that reinsurance will provide returns over the longer-term that are attractive given the generally uncorrelated nature of the return stream.
